Hokkien Huay Kuan Annual Dance Performance

After so many weeks of preparation, the day has finally arrived!  We have to report at Lee Foundation at 3.45 pm for full dress rehearsal at site.  The reporting time is Kaelyn's nap time so we were a bit worried of how she's going to cope with the long hours.  The performance only start at 7 pm and will only end around 9 pm.

Luckily she managed to catch some sleep on the way to Lee Foundation and that power nap helps a lot.  There were so many groups so the rehearsal on stage is very limited.  The rest of the time is spent waiting and putting on make up for the children.

The rest area is a bit overcrowded with parents, teachers, students, helpers etc.  All the 小花 have to sit on the floor along the common walk way to eat their dinner, to put on makeup etc.

Kaelyn was so happy and excited to put on makeup

Group Photo... which one is Kaelyn?  The most action one... spot it?

Some shots of her dance..she is always in front..

A huge group of dancers who put up this 2 hour show.. those in green are 小青蛙 and those in black are penguins and many others..

杨詠心老师 has been teaching Kaelyn since day 1.  She started dancing at the same Huay Kuan since 4 years old

叶家真老师 helps to run the class when 杨老师 is absent.  Kaelyn likes her very much although 叶老师 is very fierce. 叶老师 & 杨老师's class merge to form this new group for the annual dance performance.  This dance is jointly choreographed by the 2 young teachers.  Besides teaching the younger generations, they themselves have to particpate in the dance performance as well..

Mummy is very happy to see Kaelyn portraying herself confidently on stage.. no signs of fear and hesitance.  She like the experience so much that she asked to continue next year.

However, by taking part in this event is quite a ripped off for parents. We have to ferry our child twice weekly for the prepation of this performance, provide "manpower", pay for her costumes, pay for tickets to attend the event and buy the DVD that capture the whole performance.  At the very least, shouldn't they offer like 2 free tickets for each participating family?
